What's in a name?

"I never knew dirt could be so pretty!" I exclaimed burying my bare hands in a wheelbarrow full of topsoil my husband had just delivered to the backyard. It was my first purchase of a cubic yard of topsoil. A deep rich mahogany-colored topsoil to be exact.

No bags, no potting soils, no containers. It was 30% compose, 10% sand and 60% dirt and it was all mine! I felt like a real gardener in that moment. And since a blog titled "feels-as-good-as-it-looks dirt" was a mouthful, I knew I must name my gardening adventure journal (okay, blog) Pretty Dirt.

Now, if I can just manage not to kill anything...
